The Ottawa Valley and Québec chapters of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS-OV & SNAP Québec) launchthe 6thAnnualThanks to Naturecampaign.CPAWS invites residents of Eastern Ontario and Quebec to raise funds for the protection of nature and to visit participating parks on Sunday, October 10, to celebrate nature’s benefits.
Reconnecting with what’s important
This year, climate and pandemic news has put nature back in the forefront of our thinking and has given us the opportunity to take a fresh look at the vital role it plays in our lives. Throughout Ontario and Quebec, we have seen the number of visitors to parks double, turning them into true refuges for citizens in need of nature.
We continue to enthusiastically seek shelter in the forest, escaping stress and anxiety to reconnect with nature. Whether it is to take a break from hectic city life, observe birds, meditate under the shelter of a tree, take care of our physical and mental health, or simply enjoy a quality time with the family, we all have good reasons to spend time in a park and take a moment to reconnect.
It’s a good time to say thank you
Thanks to Nature is an annual event inviting us to thank nature for all her benefits on Thanksgiving Sunday. It is also a fundraiser where 100% of the profits are reinvested to benefit biodiversity and the protection of Eastern Ontario and Quebec’s natural environments. On this occasion, CPAWS-OV and SNAP Québec invite nature lovers to donate or to register to collect donations as an individual or as part of a team. This year, our goal is to reach $40,000!
The donations collected during the Thanks to Nature campaign will be used to:
- Support CPAWS’ work in conserving Eastern Ontario and Quebec’s ecosystems and protecting its wildlife species.
- Provide young adults with an engaging stewardship leader development experience in the Ottawa Valley region.
- Offer an immersive outdoor experience for youth from diverse communities in Quebec.
Give from the heart, it’s in our nature.
